Saturday January 15th, 7.30pm. St Mary’s Kemp Town, Brighton.
With the Musicians of All Saints, Adam presents the first performance of Ferdinand Ries’s first concerto in its original version. Adam discovered the 1806 manuscript in the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin, and has used this to produce the first edition of this work (which was later published as Op.123). The piece is full of dramatic conversation between soloist and orchestra, reminiscent of the instrumental interactions of Ries’s teacher Ludwig van Beethoven.
